I had an idea a few weeks ago…

I remember hearing that Hurricane Irene had created a huge pumpkin shortage in the Northeast this year.  After a little investigating I found out that there was a town where there were kids who were not going to have a pumpkin this year and who probably had never had a pumpkin before.

So I had an idea to take a couple thousand pumpkins from my farm here in Brunswick, Ohio to this town and create a pumpkin patch where kids could choose their own pumpkin.

It was fun.  It was really fun.

And it was especially exciting to see the joy on the kids’ faces as they ran through the pumpkin patch to pick out their pumpkin.

The best part was knowing that we had inspired someone else to give back.  Just watch for Antwon in the video clip.  He really got it.

Enjoy and Live Free!

Greg,

God bless you and your generosity! I watched the video of your special delivery to the Boys & Girls Club of Patterson, NJ and it made my day. Way to spread the wealth. Joy in the form of an orange gourd. How cool is that! AWESOME! You are the “Great Pumpkin”.

Smiling through the tears,

My family and I have had a tradition of visiting Mapleside every fall for years now. We went this past Sunday and it will be our last visit. First, the prices for everything at Mapleside have skyrocketed. The buffet was awful, and we had to spend $17. each on it! Service was terrible and I actually witnessed a fight amongst the workers at the hostess desk. So unprofessional. The gift shop, which we used to love, was a total disappointment. Hardly any merchandise and way too much kids’ stuff. The bakery, again a favorite our ours, was almost empty and the prices were much higher than last year. The cost for childrens’ activities was ridiculous. What used to be a beautiful, affordable family spot has turned into a below-par, commercial, price-gouging spot! So sad.
